On October 5, 2018, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Raul A. Cuervo to the Miami-Dade County Court. Cuervo, 63, of Miami, is an attorney and shareholder at Carlton, Fields, Jorden, Burt, P.A. While at Carlton Fields he handled insurance, class action, and commercial litigation.
Raul Cuervo served with me in Europe during the Cold War era in a combat engineer battalion where training was characterized by regular field exercises under all weather conditions and involving frequent movements to evaluate the effectiveness of command and control. His performance, often under very challenging conditions, was exemplary in all respects. I am pleased and honored that we have maintained our relationship throughout the years. He is a man of commitment and character especially wise on his patient and one who calmly performs rightly even under pressure. Raul consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership and teamwork, earning the respect and trust of both his peers and superiors. His dedication to duty and unwavering integrity set a positive example for everyone around him, making a lasting impact on our unit and on me personally.
